October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month; the Deschutes County District Attorney's Office focuses on Domestic Violence cases year round and works with our Victim's Assistance Program and other community organizations such as Saving Grace.

Today Judge Stephen Tiktin sentenced Thomas H. Bray to 25 years prison. Over a year and a half after the Bend Police Department responded to the victim’s 911 call, her rapist is held responsible for his crimes. A month ago, Bray was tried and found guilty of two counts of forcible rape in the first degree, two counts of sodomy, assault, and strangulation.

A Deschutes County Grand Jury was convened in December 2011, pursuant to ORS 132.440 to inquire into the condition and management of the adult and juvenile correctional facilities in Deschutes County. The grand jurors inspected each of the facilities currently in operation: The Deschutes County Jail, Work Center and the Juvenile Detention Facility.
