Press Release
Today, a defendant was sentenced to 205 months of prison for sexual assaults committed against his former wife of 30 years. The defendant was convicted of two counts of Rape in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The State, appearing through DDA Brigid Turner, read the victim’s impact statement to a packed courtroom; which included her specific recognition of two Bend PD detectives for their care in handling the case, the Deputy DAs that worked on the case and the DA’s Office Victims Assistance Program Director. Her statement concluded with “Justice has been served today. My daughter and I can move forward with the knowledge that if you stand up with integrity, justice will have a successful outcome, as it has today.”
This case would not be possible without the fortitude and strength of the victim, a true survivor and the dedication of the Bend PD detectives.

Today I joined approximately 550 members of our community at the KIDS Center's Healing Heart's Lunch; thank you to the KIDS Center for all that they do for children in our community. This April, join me in the Blue Ribbon campaign, designed to raise awareness about child abuse, educate the community on how to prevent child abuse and what to do should it occur. For more information, please go to the KIDS Center website. www.kidscenter.org
