Thomas Bray Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison

Today Judge Stephen Tiktin sentenced Thomas H. Bray to 25 years prison.  Over a year and a half after the Bend Police Department responded to the victim’s 911 call, her rapist is held responsible for his crimes.  A month ago, Bray was tried and found guilty of two counts of forcible rape in the first degree, two counts of sodomy, assault, and strangulation.  Judge Tiktin described Bray’s conduct as “abhorrent.”  Ballot Measure 11 requires Bray to serve every day of the sentence without the possibility of earned good time or early release.   Being 38 now, Bray will be released from the department of corrections when he is 63 years old.  Upon release he will have to register as a sex offender and will continue be under supervision for the following twelve years.  Additionally, Judge Tiktin ordered Bray to pay $112,000 as a compensatory fine.  Approximately $50,000 of that will go directly to the victim, and $19,000 will go to reimburse her employer, Bend Research Incorporated, for the nearly 1,000 hours of sick leave they donated to the victim that allowed her to start recovering from the brutal attack.

The District Attorney’s Office deeply appreciated the amount of time and resources dedicated by Bend Police Department that allowed us to successfully prosecute this dangerous predatory sex offender.
